One of the things we visited BEFORE we officially moved out here was the Paria Movie Set in Kanab, Utah. This set was used for numerous westerns and TV shows between 1963 and 1991. It was used for several episodes of Gun Smoke, and Sergeants 3. The Outlaw Josie Wales was filmed at this location in 1976.
In 1998, after a series of floods forged out a 20' trench through the center of this small town, the town was relocated on more stable ground behind the original set location. The work was done by area volunteers and Bureau of Land Management employees. The buildings were disassembled, then reconstructed on the new site in 2000.
On August 25, 2006, this movie set burned to the ground. The fire is being called suspicious by authorities.
